Managing systemic risk in emergency management, organizational resilience and climate change adaptation

Purpose This paper applies the theory of cascading, interconnected and compound risk to practice preparing for, managing, responding threats hazards. Our goal is propose a consistent approach for managing major in urban systems by bringing together emergency management, organisational resilience, climate change adaptation. Design/methodology/approach We develop theory-building process using an example from work Greater London Authority United Kingdom. First, we explore how management approaches systemic risk, including examples exercises, contingency plans responses complex incidents. Secondly, analyse integrated into strategies practices Thirdly, consider resilience as cross cutting element between approaches. Findings has long been champion dealing with risk. However, this highlights potential integrating better understanding common points failure society organisations, especially where they relate domains are driven change.
